Lantern Guest House especially suits a modern professional couple who appreciate the apartment style independent access via computerised key pads on the Lower Ground front door and their own guest room door. The thick walls enhance quietness between guest rooms. Windsor Street is astonishingly quiet, being so close to the city centre.
High speed 80/20 wifi enables our guests to efficiently explore in video what Edinburgh has to offer. We do not offer breakfast or other meals, rather we encourage you to enjoy the bountiful and varied cuisine within a quarter of a mile from Lantern House. There are also several retail outlets and cash machines close by.
We do have a selection of snacks available to travel weary guests and fresh milk is provided to enhance the hospitality tray (usually UHT milk) experience.
Lantern House is just 200 metres from the Playhouse and Omni Centre, the eastern hub of Edinburgh and a 10 minute walk from Waverley Rail Station.
W.H. Playfair's signature corner style residence with it's thick walls and castle like turrets (viewed from Room 3) enhances quietness within and around Lantern House.

A personal welcome can be provided by ringing the bell of Lantern House, or guests can opt to use their pin code to access the Lower Ground front door and their own guest room door.
Guest rooms provide homely features: Hospitality tray, FreeView TV with DVD player, towels, hand soap, shower gel and shampoo and thermostatic heating control (new boiler).
At weekends the minimum stay is 2 nights (3 nights for Bank holidays). Street parking at weekends is free from 5.30pm Friday - 8.30am Monday, with free parking each evening - morning midweek. Otherwise 50p per 30 mins close or free parking 10 mins walk away.
